Destination #6: Arches National Park

Whew! I'm pooped. I just got back from a trip with Li and Cat to Moab, Utah. We went on a 10 hour hike through a place call the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park. It was so much fun!

We squeezed through small spaces between rocks. We scrambled up and down cracks in the rock, just like little crabs. We also used ropes to get down a few cliffs.

I repelled down a 120 ft cliff with Cat. We were both sooooo scared. Can you see me in the photos below?

The rocks were so beautiful because they eroded over time. Lots of wind, rain, and something about lots and lots of salt caused the really neat shapes. Check out this one; it looks like Homer Simpson!

The other one looks like a skeleton head. Do you see the eye balls?

Here's a video of Li squeezing through a tight spot.

It was easier for me to get through because I'm so tiny compared to all of the adults on the trip.

Next time I got to Moab, I want ride my bike! Too many fun things to try. Bye Bye!

Destination #5: Peru!!

I took Flatlion all the way to South America on my trip to Peru. We first went to Lima, Peru where we made our way to the National Museum.

Inside the museum we tried to find flatlion some jewelry fit for a king, but they wouldn't let us take any.

Before leaving the city of Lima, we had to stop at the zoo so flatlion could hang out with some of his family.

Our final destination in Peru was Machu Picchu also known as the Lost City of the Incas. You can't see the top of it but on the mountain that flatlion's head is in front of is Wayna Picchu.

This is actually up on Wayna Picchu which looks down at the main Machu Picchu area. It almost took two hours to hike to the top of it. The previous picture was taken at the very top left point of this picture.

Destination #4: A California Beach Day

We rewarded ourselves by
visiting the beach today. First, we stopped at a Christmas Tree at the promenade. The shiny blue ornaments are my favorite!

Next we went across the street to Palisades Park. There's the Santa Monica pier behind us. The pier is an old-fashion wooden pier with roller coasters, games and ice cream. The ocean breezes make my mane even more wild. Grrr!

---------------------------------------------

We looked through the telescopes at birds, lifeguards, and even dolphins!

Here we are taking a photo at the entrance to the Santa Monica pier. I look pretty good in this photo, I think I will have to send it to Grandma Flat Lion and Grandpa Flat Lion.

We're joining a film shoot on location, this is our big break to become a superstar! Gotta run!!

Destination #4: Santa Monica Here I Come!

I arrived safe and sound in Santa Monica from Dublin, Ireland. Whew! 5730 miles non-stop in this envelope. I might be a little jet lagged but I'm enjoying the sunshine after my adventures in Dublin.

Here I am, ready for a day of work at Google. I worked pretty hard today on writing Help Center articles.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also went to the Google library to brush up on my JavaScript skills.

I sure found a good book!

Destination #3: Dublin, Ireland - Two Dinos, a hero and a little girl

After crossing the Atlantic ocean, I arrived save in Europe. I'm not in continental Europe, but on a small island in front of it - named Ireland. It's also called the green island, because plants and trees are growing well in the frequent rain showers. And it's staying green all year long, as there is no snow in the winter and the summers are not very dry.

The people are very friendly so I could easily find a house to stay. The family in this house has two children. A six-year-old boy and a one-and-a-half-year-old girl. I was playing happily with some toys of the boy. Then suddenly I was surrounded by evil monsters. They looked like dangerous dinosaurs who were hunting for their food. I was scared. I called for help.

My call for help was answered quickly. A masked man that moved like a spider came out of nowhere for my rescue. He was fighting the dinosaurs and rescued me. Very relieved I thanked my hero.

The rest of my time in Irland I lived in a pink house in the garden. The little girl was looking good after me and we had a lot of fun playing together.

Destination #2: Lyons, CO - Rock climbing is fun!

Well, here I am in Lyons, Colorado, which is near Denver, and is 824 miles east of San Jose, California. When you add that to the distance from San Francisco to San Jose, so far I have traveled 850 miles. (http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=SFO-SJC-DEN)

We just got back from a hike in the Rocky Mountains near Tosh's house in Lyons. This map shows where we went, which is a place called Button Rock Preserve. It has a big lake and lots of nice places to hike.

It is really high here in the mountains, over a mile high, so I get out of breath when I hike uphill too fast, because there's less oxygen up here.

While we were hiking a rainstorm blew in, but we had good raincoats so we didn't get wet. Tosh says the weather changes very fast in the mountains.

After a few minutes it was sunny again, and I got to go rock climbing. Here's a picture of me on the rocks.

Tosh made me a backpack. He says it'll be a lot easier to carry around than a suitcase.

The rocks near Lyons are kind of reddish color and are called redstone. A lot of the old buildings in town are made from it.

On the way into town there is a big piece of redstone that has been carved to say, "Welcome to Lyons." There's a picture at this website: www.townoflyons.com.

This afternoon I met Rufous, who is a hummingbird who has been living near Tosh's house this summer. All the hummingbirds are getting ready to fly to Mexico for the winter, which is a very long journey for such tiny birds.

When I told Rufous that I'm going to Dublin, Ireland tomorrow to meet Tosh's friend Axel, he asked if he could come with me. So I put him in my backpack.

Well, I better get in my envelope and get ready for my trip to Dublin, which is 3,817 miles from Denver! (http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=SFO-SJC-DEN-DUB)

See you there!

RRRROOOAAARRRR! RRROOOAAAARRRRR!

Haha, hello down there! I think we're flying above you right now.

Tosh was born in August, so he's a lion, too. We're sitting in the airplane flying to Colorado and we're bored, so we've been practicing roaring to pass the time. I'm the loudest, by far!

Oh-oh, the flight attendant just came by and told us we have to be quiet because we're bothering the other passengers, so we can only purrrrrrrrr until we land.

It was funny when we went through the security check to get to the plane. They told me I had to empty my pockets and take off my shoes, so I had to tell them that I don't have any pockets and never wear shoes!

Tosh has a window seat, but he gave me the window. It's really cool, I can see all the mountains and deserts that we're flying over. Tosh is trying to read a book, but he's not getting very far because I keep telling him to look at everything I'm seeing. He doesn't mind, though. He likes the view, too.

Here comes the flight attendant again, to bring us something to drink. When I stick my snout in a glass of cola, the bubbles tickle me and always make me sneeze, so I think I'll get an orange juice instead. Anyway, that's more like the color of my fur, so if I spill some it won't matter.

Okay, talk to you more tomorrow. We're going to go for a walk in the mountains.
